  • David Livingstone from Scotland led a group of Africans into Central Africa to spread Christianity.
  • The discovery of diamonds, gold, and other natural resources increased the Europeans want for land in Africa 
  • The scramble for Africa was a great push to gain land in Africa. This was due to the Social Darwinism in Europe and the resources.
  • The Berlin Conference was a meeting that took place between the European Nations.
  • the Maxim gun which was invented in 1884 was the first automatic machine gun. Europeans quickly acquired this but Africans remained outdated
  • The boer war was between the british and the boers. This was the first modern war and native South Africans were also involved in the war.
  • Britain went onto win the war in 1902. They won when the Boer surrendered to the British.
