The War Of 1812
The War of 1812 was a war between the United States and Great Britain, it started in 1812 and lasted three years until it ended February 18, 1815.
The war started because Great Britain was capturing and forcing the US soldiers to fight for Britain.
Once a subject of the king, always a subject of the king!
On June 1, 1812 President James Madison sent a letter to the British and while the letter did not directly declare War it implied it.
We declare war with Great Britain!
The Goal of The United States was to destroy the British colonies in Canada, so that they could expel the british from the continent and expand America’s borders. They also were trying to get imprisonment to stop and get back the US soldiers back from the Great Britain.
The Native Americans played a crucial role in the war. The Native Americans helped Britain, and in return Natives were armed and they could try and protect their land from the colonist. The Natives the helped defend Canada from the Americans, in the end however the natives American never got a real positive outcome.
