While America did not technically win the war, it created lots of benefits for the American people because it installed nationalism among its citizens, it prompted James Monroe and John Quincy Adams to write the Monroe Doctrine. America gained respect for putting the most powerful military on standstill. The USS Constitution was the name of the treaty that was a result of the War of 1812.
Canada won the war of 1812, because American got to the point where they were able to put the British army practically at standstill, because previously the French had been in war with Napoleon and the French.
