  • Today we are learning about DNA, which are long strands of molecules...
  • ...that encode all the information needed to create and sustain life.
  • Here, put these headsets on.
  • DNA holds the pattern that the cellular machinery use to create RNA, which is used to make proteins
  • Ms. Pickle is excited to introduces the concept of DNA to her grade 5 class.
  • OMG
  • This is inside every cell !?
  • The students have difficulty grasping the abstract concepts that they cannotexperience firsthand. They quickly become overwhelmed or lose interest.
  • Ms. Pickle has signed out the school's virtual reality (VR) headsets. She hands them out so the students can experience what it is like to be inside a cell.
  • Learning is so fun!
  • The children are blown away. They can'tbelieve what they are seeing!
  • Whoa...
  • The VR animation shows the process ofprotein synthesis. A strand of RNAis created from the pattern encoded in DNA.
  • The children are energized and inspired to learn more!
