Good News! The British have passed the proclamation!
Dad, the British Government gave Quebec some of our land!
One day, Adoni comes home from hunting to his wife with good news. The British have passed a proclamation that gave them their own land, and prevents settlers from the colonies from taking it.
"This is an outrage!"
"This is our land!"
Everyone in Adoni's tribe celebrated the good news. The worries of Britain taking their land are over, or so they thought.
Many years later, Adoni's son came running up to him. He carried bad news. The British just passed the Quebec act, which has given Quebec more of their land.
"Everybody, please calm down."
Adoni rushed around the tribe, spreading the worrying news. The members of the tribe were all anxious and angered. Who gave them the right to take their land? They had lived here for so long, only to have their land and resources stolen
"Who said they could take it from us?!"
The land Quebec had taken would have been useful for hunting, farming, and foraging for food. With this loss, food shortages became a risk. The land that they had respected so much would be replaced by homes of the Quebec citizens who would further take valuable resources.
The group chief came up in front of the gathering crowd in an attempt to calm them. " I agree with your concerns, they have no right to take our land. I need to discuss this further with our fellow tribes. As for now, prepare for a rebellion. We will not stand for this."
