What is the purpose of higher education? (Scene 2)
This storyboard does not have a description.
Well, welcome back. I didn't think I'd be seeing you so soon. Is everything ok?
Yes, everything is fine. I was just hoping you would be willing to elaborate a bit on your experience with your integrated studies courses. I'm not liking the sound of taking a bunch of classes that have little to do with my major.
Absolutely! My integrated studies courses are the reason I became a school advisor.
In my English writing class, an assignment was to write a paper regarding this very topic.
The author, Andrew Simmons, made some good points. He states that higher education should be promoted to all students as an opportunity to experience an intellectual awakening, not just increase their earning power and that it needs to take place earlier in the students' education.
The main article I cited in my paper was "The Danger of Telling Poor Kids that College is the Key to Social Mobility."
Well, not so much life changing. I would call it career changing.
Cool. So for you that was kind of life changing.
I would not expect you to have the same experience that I did. It's different for everyone. Just keep an open mind.
Ok. Thanks. This really helped.
