Storyboard Text

  • Son, look over there! That's one of our friends who just immigrated here earlier this year.
  • Cool, but... what does immigrated mean?
  • Well... migration is the movement of people from one place to another.
  • There are two types of migration:Immigration is when someone enters a country and emigration is when someone leaves a country.
  • Okay thanks, but... why did you decide to leave your country and come here!
  • Well... that leads me to push factors and pull factors.
  • Wait... what are they?
  • Well... push factors are things that make you want to leave a place and pull factors are things that attract you to a different place.
  • Okay... thanks, but what would make someone want to leave a country or to enter a country?
  • Well, usually people leave a country to go somewhere else due to economic, social, political and environmental reasons and so they can improve their lifestyle.
  • Having immigrants can also benefit the country they are moving to as they can fill job gaps and bring new culture such as food. It also increases taxes paid to the government so local communities can benefit.
  • Okay! Thank you guys for teaching me about migration and for helping me to understand the topic in more detail.
