Hamlet apologizes to Laertes sincerely stating “Give me your pardon, sir I have done you wrong; but pardon ‘t as you are a gentleman.” Laertes accepts hamlet's apology explaining that he will not wrong it.
The battle then begins and hamlet gets the first hit. The king takes a drink from the cup and then drops a pearl in the cup to celebrate the hit. The pearl contains a poison that is meant to kill Hamlet.
Hamlet then gets a second hit and the king offer him the cup which his mother takes a drink instead stating “I will, my lord; I pray you pardon me” after the kings suggestion not to drink. She offers some to Hamlet who politely declines.
They resume play and Laertes wounds hamlet than during fight they change rapiers as they move about the castle and hamlet wounds Laertes. During the fight the queen falls stating she has been poisoned and dies.
Laertes Falls and states that the king is the one to blame for the Queen’s death. Hamlet then forces him the drink the poison after wounding the king and Hamlet states “follow my mother” and the king dies.
Laertes apologizes to Hamlet’s right before he dies. “Exchange noble forgiveness with me, noble Hamlet.” Laertes death was caused by the poison that was put on the top of his rapier.
