  • 1) The Ordinary World The hero's home - What he/she has always known as comfortable.
  • 2) The Call to Adventure Sets the story in motion by disrupting the hero's Ordinary World.
  • 3) Refusal At first, the hero may not be willing to make changes, preferring the comfort and safety of the Ordinary World.
  • 4) Mentor Help The hero's mentor gives encouragement.
  • 5) Crossing the Threshold The hero must cross the line between the world that he/she is familiar with and an uncertain world, signifying that the journey has begun.
  • 6) Tests, Allies, & Enemies Through a series of tests, the hero finds out what he/she is capable of, who can be trusted, and who cannot be trusted. This is all leading to the main test.
