Hercules was the greatest hero of Greece. He was admired by all of Greece except for Athens. The Athenians were different from the rest of Greece therefore they had different Hero which was Theseus. Both heroes are very similar to each other but had their differences.
Hercules saw him self as equal to the gods. They even needed his help to conquer the Giants. In the final victory Hercules arrows played a big part in the victory. Nothing could stop the strongest man on earth. The only thing that could stop him was a supernatural force. Nothing in the air, land, or sea ever defeated him.
When ever Hercules did something intelligence did not have a big part in it. Once when he got angry he threatened to shoot the sun as well as told the waters he would punish them. His intelligence was very weak, but his emotions were very strong. His emotion would cause many tragedies. When he would calm he would accept any punishment and would sometimes would even punish himself. For this reason people would never put him as king such as Theseus who was the king of Athens.
When he was younger he was thought to be the son of Amphitryon. In these years he was known as Alcides. In reality he was the son of Zeus and the wife of Amphitryon. When Hera had found out she got jealous like always and was determined to kill Hercules. When Hercules and his brother were younger Hera had sent to snakes to try to kill them, but Hercules saved the day. Both brothers would have different paths in life. They made sure his education was taken with great care. He would sometimes lash out on his teachers though.
He must of hated music because he never lashed out on any other teacher throughout his life.By the time he was 18 he killed alone. When he defeated the Minyans the people gave hi, Princess Megara as a reward. They got married and he was devoted to her and their children. Everything was looking up but Hera did not forget what happened and caused Hercules to go mad and kill his wife and 3 sons. Everybody was frightened by him. Theseus was not like everybody else and he helped Hercules. Theseus people welcomed him with open arms.
He didnt stay for long. Theseus did not think Hercules was guilty of murder. Hercules did not think like this and he deserved punishment. Eurystheus gave him punishment they are the Labors of Hercules there were 12 of them. When he conquered all of them he was supposed to be at ease with his life. One difficult challenge was the Giant who was powerful when touching the earth. Hercules lifted him and strangled him in the air. There are some other stories about him getting jealous such as with the river god Achelous who liked the girl he wanted to marry.
