  • Appeal to False Authority
  • Aliens are most  definitely real, the local policemen told me so.
  • Where you try to justify an argument by saying that a lot of people agree with your side, if so many people agree, then everyone else should as well.
  • Everyone here believes in aliens, and therefore; you should too.
  • Appeal to the Bandwagon
  • Where instead of trying to refute an argument with legitimate evidence, you instead set up a premise where the opposing side would have something to legitimately fear.

  • Instead of attacking the argument, you attack your opponent's character in an attempt to discredit them.

  • Well, aliens can't be real, you don't know what your talking about because your stupid!
  • Where you try to discredit an argument by saying that argument or idea is shared with a socially demonized group or individual.
