Have a drawing on a whiteboard describing how there is a piece of electronic equipment inside of the camera (called a charged coupled device, or CCD), which captures the incoming light rays and turns it into electronic signals.
Have a drawing on a whiteboard showing how the 'picture' hits the CCD and breaks up into many pixels. Explain how the CCD measures the colour and and brightness of each pixel and makes it a number.
