  • Cheerleading originated in the USA In the 1980s atPrinceton University, Thomas Peebles together with other students supported a local American football team with cheers.
  • In 1898, American colonizers introduced the sport as part of revisions they made to the official Philippine school system.
  • Although the Americans also attempted to teach baseball, basketball was the sport that took off, and just 15 years later, the Philippines won gold in the 1913 Far Eastern Games.
  • Baseball was introduced in the Philippines by the Americans. The first baseball game in the Philippines was played in September 1898 weeks after the Battle of Manila, a match between Astor Battery led by George Wetlaufer and a regiment from the American Army.
  • The biggest reason Pacquiao is considered the best to ever do it is because of his body of work. Pacquiao, in his prime, was the complete package.
  • The Filipinos needed the motivation to appreciate swimming as a competitive sport.   • Filipinos have been playing tennis since 1913, and the sport has gained much attention and advancement ever since.
