New York City, New York 1911: The factory Triangle Waist Co. is owned by Isaac Harris and Max Blanck.
Girls in their teens worked long abusive hours. If they talked, used the restroom, or were sick they were fired. They were not aloud to have children. Harris and Blanck would lock the doors so that the women couldn't leave.
While working in the factory a fire sprouted.
Due to the doors being locked, the women had no true escape route.
Some women burned alive inside, while others jumped to their death.
This event has created an awareness to the work force and since then there has been laws created and placed for safety, hours, giving employees freedoms, the installation of open and non blocked fire exits, and fire hydrants.
