Luke is playing basketball when he throws the ball and it gets stuck in the hoop. He is standing 10 ft from the basket at angle of 60 degrees.
Luke uses trig and finds out that the ball is 3.2 ft high. He finds this out by doing tan(60) x 10 which equals 3.2.
Luke goes to anotherbasket and shoots again. This ball gets stuck as well. This time he is 15 ft away and the angle to the basket is 20 degrees.
He finds out he is only 6.7 feet away. 15/ tan(20) = 6.7
Luke gives up basketball and goes to climb a tree. He is 3 ft away from a 17 ft tall tree. He uses the angle of elevation.
The angle is tan^-1 (8/5) which equals 1.4. Luke realizes that maybe he should just go inside and go home. The end.
