  • Luke is playing basketball when he throws the ball and it gets stuck in the hoop. He is standing 10 ft from the basket at angle of 60 degrees.

  • Luke uses trig and finds out that the ball is 3.2 ft high. He finds this out by doing tan(60) x 10 which equals 3.2.
  • Luke goes to anotherbasket and shoots again. This ball gets stuck as well. This time he is 15 ft away and the angle to the basket is 20 degrees.

  • He finds out he is only 6.7 feet away. 15/ tan(20) = 6.7
