Storyboard Description

The tragic story of a girl who only want to be loved.

Storyboard Text

  • Since a very young age Pecola had lived a life filled with horrors. She dealt with a father who was in a sense, crazy. He tried to burn his own family's house down and this caused the family to separate for a while, and Pecola went to go live with a white family.
  • Once she was reunited with her family, Peocla dealt with constant argument and beating between her parents. She cries and begin to pray to have blue eyes. Both of her parent had a hard life, they deal with their life issue either by drinking or by allowing themselves to be beaten. So Pecola blame the lack of love on herself. 
  • On top of all the issue that Pecola had to deal with at home, she also was bullied    from many   people,  just because she was black. White boys and girls would surround her and call her extremely vulgar words which made her belief of worthlessness increase.  Her biggest wish was to disappear. 
  • Pecola imagined the lifes of white people. How the little white boys and girls had loving parents and friends. They seemed content with there lives. This made her believe that if she wanted to be happy, she need to look like those people. So she desperately wanted blue eye so she could be accepted, and to see her life with in anew perspective.

  • One terrible  event that happened to  Pecola was that she  was raped by her father twice. One of the times, she was left pregnant.  When she sought help from her mother, and tried   to confess her story,    all her mother did was beat her because Pecola  mother did not believe  the rape was real.
  • Even though her friends offered help it was useless. Pecola lost the baby, and soon she lost her mind as well. She began to talk to her imaginary friend. She also began to believe she had blue eyes. The lack of love drove her to the peak of madness, and soon Pecola's wish came true. She finally disappeared. Her mind and soul, lost forever.
