Frederick Douglass had been a slave all his life who had been overworked and treated unfairly by the master that had control over him. escaping became priority so Frederick could be a free man and live the life he deserved.
Frederick escaped with the help of the underground railroads that got him all the way to New York. So Frederick can start on his new journey.
When Frederick arrived in New York he met up with Mr. Ruggles who helped him on his path.
After Frederick got to New York, Frederick sent for his intended wife Anna. so they can get married and live together.
Frederick and his wife then moved to New Bedford with the help of Mr. Ruggles to start a new life. There they met Mr. Johnson who helped them when they arrived.
Frederick and Anna were happy, although Frederick wasn't able to get a job as a caulker he was happy to take whatever was available. He then later became a speaker after being advised to by someone who heard him speak at a colored people's meeting
