  • In 1917 recycling was beneficial for war for example, fats and oils were used to make explosives. Used for soldier's gas masks.

  • A vegetable garden was used so the food amount would increase during war. Helped men in war to stay alive.
  • Role of women
  • The group was small but they helped all the injured and sick people during war 
  • Conservation of food/rationing
  • The Us armed forces grew drastically. Determined how much steel and other vital could be spared for needs.
  • Women were now working in jobs that were once said only to be for men. Had a bigger rolel outside of home.
  • Food waste was cut. Food was needed for the army men so it was rationed in homes. sugar
