  • THE MAIN IDEA OF THE POEM IS THAT THE NARRATOR'S MOTHER IS TOO CONTROLLING AND THE NARRACTOR WANTS FREEDOM.
  • THE MOOD THAT THE READERS WOULD FEEL FROM READING THE POEM IS EMPATHY FOR THE NARRATOR.
  • THE TONE THAT THE  POET SETS FOR THE POEM IS TENSE. THERE IS TENSION BETWEEN THE NARRATOR AND HER MOTHER.
  • THE THEME OF THE POEM IS THAT HAVING TOO MUCH CONTROL OVER YOUR CHILD COULD CAUSE THEM TO WANT FREEDOM AND BECOME RESTLESS.
