  • Factors That Led to the Revolution
  • Meeting of the Estates General
  • We want change!
  • The French Revolution was when the French people overthrew the monarchy, and took control of the government. It lasted from 1789 to 1799.
  • The Tennis Court Oath
  • Growing resentment among lower classes. New ideas about government. Serious economic problems. Weak/indecisive leadership. Food Shortage.
  • The Storming of the Bastille
  • The Three Estates met together, and the Third Estate wanted to make some changes.
  • The Great Fear
  • The National Assembly found themselves locked out of their meeting room. They then broke down a door to an indoor tennis court and stayed there until they drew up a new constitution.
  • A mob searching for gunpowder stormed the Bastille on July 14th, 1789.
  • A wave of senseless panic through France where peasants became outlaws themselves.
