Larry and Marry are performing in a play together. In one scene, Larry is lifted 10 feet off of the ground with Marry standing 7 feet away. Marry wants to find the angle of elevation from her position to Larry. She uses Tan Inverse(X) / 1= 10/7 = 55 degrees.
The scene has ended and Marry is on the stage for a solo performance. She sees her younger sister, Alex, in the audience. The stage is 5 feet above the ground and Alex is sitting at a 35 degree angle to Marry and the floor. She wonders what the distance separating the 2 is. She uses Sin(35) / 1 = 5/X = 8.7 Feet
The play is in intermission. All of the actors are backstage changing for the next Act.
The play is now back in session. Harry is on stage by himself, performing a solo scene. He notices a man walking up the isle handing out popcorn. Harry assumes this man is at a 47 degree angle with the ground and him. He also assumes that there is roughly 15 feet separating the 2. Harry wants to calculate his height above the main floor. He uses Sin(47) / 1 = X/15 = 10. 97 = 11 feet
The play has ended and the 2 are now receiving their applaud.
