After building the city of Troy, Apollo and Poseidon invited Aeacus to help them as destiny had decreed that Troy would one day be captured in a place built by human hands.
Heracles, Telamon and Peleus came to Troy and killed Laomedon for not giving Heracles his promised reward of immortal horses.
Soon Priam, King of Troy and Hekabe had a son, Paris. Cassandra, the prophetic daughter of Priam, foretold that the newborn son, should be killed at birth or else he would destroy the city.
Achilles, the son of Peleus and Thetis, was bathed in the waters of the river Styx, which conferred invulnerability to any weapon. When the Greeks began to assemble an army, Achilles was disguised as a girl to hide him.
The Greek army landed on the beaches before Troy. When the Trojans denied them, the Greek army settled down to a siege which lasted many years.
During the course of the war, numerous incidents took place, and many died on both sides. Paris and Menelaus fought a duel, and Aphrodite saved Paris just as Menelaus was about to kill him.
