  • I have no idea what my science teacher is talking about. If only there was a way I could go back in time and ask the person who discovered this...
  • Who are you?! Where am I?!
  • Am I Ernest Rutherford. I am the physicist who discovered the nucleus and alpha and beta particles
  • Can you tell me about your discoveries?
  • I would love to! But first, let me tell you a bit about myself.
  • I was born on August 30th 1871 on a farm in New Zealand
  • In 1894 I won a scholarship to Cambridge University and later became a Professor at many other schools around the world
  • It was 1899 when I made the discovery of alpha and beta particles.
  • I did this through an experiment with uranium and aluminium foil and measured the intensity of radiation. I found two types and called them alpha and beta.
