  • By not saying anything I was able to let her speak about what was important to her 
  • Hi Ashley, thanks for coming to speak with me today. What is troubling you?
  • My grandmother is sick and I'm feeling conflicted about seeing her
  • hummm....I wonder if should ask why the grandma is sick to find out why she is feeling conflicted? 
  • she has recently gotten pneumonia, and with the new baby I am worried about taking him there
  • I really want to see her but I think its too risky to take the baby
  • The use of silence can add a lot of value to the theraputic relationship
  • Thanks for chatting I feel much better now
