  • Hello class. Today we will be talking about the female condom, one of various other contraceptives.
  • What is a female condom and how does it work?
  • A female condom is kind of like the male condom except for women (obviously). A female condom is worn on the inside of the vagina, which stops sperm from entering the vagina (if worn correctly).
  • How effective is this method?
  • If used correctly female condoms are 95% effective. Which means that 5 out of every 100 women will get pregnant per year while using this contraception.
  • Only needs to be used during sex and there are no serious medical side effects in most cases.
  • Prevents the exchange of bodily fluids.
  • If used correctly it is a consistent method of contraception.
  • Advantages
  • If not used correctly the condom can split and tear
  • Female condoms are more expensive to buy than male condoms.
  • Disadvantages
  • Some couples may think that putting in a condom interrupts sex.
  • Pharmacy, supermarket, websites.
  • Sexual health or GUM clinics, Contraception clinics, etc.
  • How/where can is be purchased.
  • Some gas stations, some public bathrooms.
