  • "Well, look. Lennie- if you get in trouble again, I want you to come back here and hide in the brush."
  • "Sure George. Hide in the bushes."
  • "Alright, gi'me that mouse!"
  • "What mouse, George. I ain't got no mouse."
  • "S'pose he don't want to talk?"
  • "By Christ, he's gotta talk when he's spoken to."
  • Chapter 1: George tells Lennie that if he gets in trouble again, he needs to go back to the pond and hide in the brush.
  •   "Well he better watch out for Lennie. Lennie ain't no fighter, but Lennie's strong and quick and Lennie don't know no rules."
