  • This indirectly characterizes Fred, Scrooge's nephew, as friendly to Scrooge, even though Scrooge doesn't like his family and tries to push him away.

  • The theme is the consequence of greed, shown when Marley says that he has to wear the chain that he made with every greedy act when he was alive.

  • Scrooge is facing an internal conflict with his past. Scrooge's past makes him sad, and nobody can help him fix his past but him. Scrooge is fighting his sadness from his past.

  • The Ghost of Christmas Present symbolizes the Christmas spirit and everyone's happiness. It symbolizes that everyone can be happy, no matter who they are and how much money they have.

  • The Ghost of Christmas of Yet to Come symbolizes can happen on future Christmases. The Ghost is also saying that it's possible that the future can change.
