Stanley was on the bus with no one else but a guard and the bus driver, he was thinking about his home and how he missed it there. I think this relates to the theme by not giving up hope by thinking about the good things he has.

This is when Stanley was digging and found a golden lipstick cap ( couldn't find a picture ) and was thinking about how he could take it for himself but instead gave it to X - Ray.
Segment: 31 Chapter: 40
This is when Stanley was trying to teach Zero how to read and write. This is relevant to the theme of not losing hope because he was trying to teach Zero to read. This means that he was trying to make the most of this ‘trip’ to camp.
Segment: 40 Chapter: 49
This is when Stanley tried to find Zero and crashed the water truck. This is relevant to the theme of not losing hope because he was trying to find Zero when someone who lost hope wouldn’t even try to find him.
This is when Zero and Stanley go to 'Big Thumb' and find some onions to eat. I think this is relevant to the theme because Stanley took Zero all the way up and didn't give up hope because of what someone said to him about finding refuge on 'God's thumb'.
This is when Stanley was taking Zero out of Camp Green Lake. This is relevant to the theme of not losing hope because he was going home with Zero ( Hector ). Also he was happy that he was leaving and still able to take Zero with him.
