  • Team Monarch Identifies a Need
  • Confusion
  • Limited Time
  • Based on the ethnographic research, Team Monarch found that Boise residents find the Hefty EnergyBag Recycling Program confusing and inefficient.
  • No More Sorting
  • Residents find the sorting process for the Hefty EnergyBag program confusing. Which plastics go into which bin?
  • Plastics Processed & Used Locally
  • Boise residents don't have the time to learn, identify and properly sort the various recyclable plastics.
  • Recycled Plastic Used in Pathways & Roads
  • How cool! I can see my recycling efforts have been put toward improving the Greenbelt!
  • Our research indicated more people would recycle if it was easier. Our solution requires no sorting by Boise residents with a single collection bin for all recyclable plastics.
  • Plastics will be processed and made into a product which can be used as an ingredient in asphalt and concrete.
  • Post consumer plastics will be utilized as a bonding agent in asphalt which creates a more durable and longer-lasting Greenbelt. Once proven successful, this can be expanded to improve the roads in Boise.
