Storyboard Text

  • The sinking of the Lusitania occurred in 1915. German forces sunk all ships sailing in the ocean to try to stop the transportation of weapons and goods. They also were trying to get the US to enter the war.
  • The shooting of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Him and his wife were in a car when they were shot. His wife was pregnant, they both died, and this was the spark of the war.
  • Trench warfare was new in World War 1. It stopped both sides from moving and pretty much caused a stalemate or a draw. It was a very tiring war because you never got a break in the trenches.
  • World War 1 was the first war with a lot of new technology. Tanks, poison gas, airplanes, and submarines all were used in war for the first time.
  • The US entered the war in April of 1917. They entered against Germany. The US was sided with France and Britain.
  • The end of world war 1 was in November of 1918. Germany was eventually blamed for most of the war and many restrictions were put on armies and weapons.
