Chapter 5 Lennie's mind is too young for responsibilty
Oh! no. This ain't. I'll tell George I foun' it dead.
Chapter 6 George stopped being responsible.
No, lennie. I aint mad. I never been mad, an' I ain't mad now.
Candy, Lennie, and George are talking about moving together and getting a farm of there own. They must remain responsible in order to make there dream come true.
Lennie kills his puppy while he is in the barn by himself. Lennie knows he hasn't been responsible. He thinks George won't let him tend the rabbits because he has failed with his responsibility.
George kills Lennie down by the stream. he does this right before Curley and the others get there. This shows George "killing" his responsibility of taking care of Lennie.
