Dmitri Mendeleev, a russian chemist in 1869 created the Periodic Law and formulated it into the periodic table of elements.
Everything on the left except hydrogen are metals, nonmetals are gonna be B, Si, Ge, As, Sb, Te, At and everything to the right of those are noble gases which include hydrogen.
Alkali Metals are all elements in Group 1A on the periodic table Alkaline Earth Metals are all elements in Group 2A on the periodic table Transition Metals are all the B Groups on the periodic table Halogens are all the elements in Group 7A Noble Gases are all elements in Group 8A
