Amy: We need to reach our goal in the communication program. This next quarter is going to be especially hard.
Beth: How do you plan on us achieving that?
Beth: Oh Hey Amanda I haven't seen you since college
Amanda: Hey I work for this company now and I am in town with a new client
Amanda: And the new client is part of a company rivaled to yours
Beth: Amanda is part of this rival company...I need to tell Amy this for a competitive advantage
The next day
Beth: If I tell Amy, I might lose my friendship with Amanda. If I do tell her this will help our job..what should I do?
Amy: If we don't do well this quarter, our customers will be greatly effected!
Beth: I know, but the only thing we can do is to provide the best goods we can and see what will happen
I didn't tell Amy what Amanda told me. The ethical choice was to not tell Amy.
