  • Yes! I'm a free man! Good work Mr. Turner!
  • Gideon asked the court to appoint him a lawyer, but the court said no.
  • NO.
  • Gideon worked hard to prove his innocence, but it wasn't enough. Eventually, he was deemed guilty and sentenced for five years in prison.
  • Yes! The Supreme Court agreed with me! Now all state courts shall let the accused have the right to an appointed lawyer. Now I can re-do my trial!
  • While in prison, Gideon petitioned the Supreme Court about his case, and the Supreme Court agreed.
  • Gideon's case went back to a lower court. This time, with the help of a lawyer, he was proved innocent!
