If you live in Maryland but you do business with banks in other states, you will be taxed.
I REFUSE TO PAY THOSE TAXES!
IF YOU DO NOT PAY, YOU WILL BE SUED!
The right to tax is the right to destroy.
The power goes to. . . National.
The state of Maryland voted to tax the people of Maryland who did bank business in other states. Andrew McCulloh refused to pay taxes so Maryland sued him.
Chief Justice John Marshall disagreed that states should not have power over the federal gov't and states do not have the power tax the federal gov't. He also wrote that the federal gov't has no power to set up a federal bank. He also disagrees with taxes.
