Storyboard Text

  • No are you crazy, we will get punished even more and then have a higher chance of getting traded, I don't want that.
  • I am running away from my slave owner. Do you want to join?
  • Aren't you glad we are a free state now?
  • Yes I hate watching slaves getting treated poorly.
  • Now that the north is happy the south is happy as well because they get to decide whether to allow slavery in New Mexico and Utah.
  • In this scene the lady slave is trying to runaway and then gets told about getting traded and punished. When she hears this she gets scared that she will get traded to a more stricter slave owner.
  • These wealthy white people are now happy that California became a free state. They did not enjoy seeing slaves in their everyday life. Therfore this put off the war and didn't solve many problems.
  • The court decided that because of the 36' 30' line, making California free for the north and letting the south decide if they allow slavery in Mexico and Utah territories. This decision is called the Compromise of 1850.
