for seven nights the narrator continues to take care of the old man,but the every night he goes to the old mans room and opens the door. the man wakes up and gives out a groan of terror.
the ray shines upon the old man's vulture eye as the narrator grows furious.he then hears the rapid fast beating of the old mans heart.the narrator feared that the neighbors could also hear it,so in a fast moment he decided to kill the old man.
after the narrator hides the corpse under the planks an cleans all the blood present in the room,the police officers come to his house.The officers come to his house.the officers come to his house because the neighbors hear a shriek and alerts the police.
While they are chatting,the narrator hears a low and dull,familiar ringing.The noise steadily increases,and the narrator starts to become paranoid, believing the police officers know everything. He cannot stand the sound and the officers "pleasant" smiles anymore.The narrator finally confesses himself to his crime and shows the corpse.
