Romulus and Remus were brothers. Their father was Mars, the god of war, and their mother was Rhea Silvia, the daughter of the King Numitor. Numitors brother Amulius had taken the throne and didn’t want anyone to take over, which made him demand Rhea Silvia to not have any children to take over the throne. Once Amulius found out Rhea Silvia had 2 children he was furious.
Once Romulus and Remus were born, Amulius seized them. He put them in a basket and threw them into the water. Amulius wanted them to drown so they would die and there would be no chance for him to lose his thrown.
When Amulius left the babies to drown, he though they would be dead but his plan didn’t work. Romulus and Remus managed to survive because they got saved by a she wolf.
Once Romulus and Remus were saved by the she wolf, she raised them as her own. They survived on her milk and her caring for them as if they were her own.
After a long time of the she wolf raising Romulus and Remus, they were found by the shepherd Faustulus. He brought them to his home for him and his wife to take care of them.
Shepherd Faustulus and his wife ended up raising them for a long time. After a while he decided to tell Romulus and Remus about what Amulius did to them, and they were angry at what he had done.
