The Hellenistic Age
Phillip II 's son Alexander was to get revenge for Xerxes takeovers on Greek city states. He overthrew Persia and took over Mesopotamia, leaving him in control of an empire.
When Alexander died unexpectedly, chaos broke out. The land was divided into three kingdoms, and the era that followed was named the Hellenistic Age. This was a significant time in history, because the empire that Alexander briefly ruled was now split and fighting for land.
