A description of the elements of the plot in the story.
Exposition. The reader learns at the beginning of the story that the young boy, Andrew, really wants his father to 'crack,' or really lose his temper. Two things that his father hates: bad manners and flies. The father's boss is coming to dinner.
Rising Action The boy, Andrew, does a lot of things to annoy his father, such as slurping his soup, sucking his chicken bones and dipping the bone into custard.
CLIMAX: Eventually, Andrew pulls out his secret weapon and licks it! This is too much for his father....
Falling Action & Conclusion: Andrew runs to his room and thinks that the next day he will tell his father about the currants and the chocolate on the fly swat.
