Storyboard Text

  • Hi! my name is Michelle, I'm 24, I live in Cronulla and I have HIV :(
  • HIV is a virus that causes the condition acquired Immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). the virus attacks a certain type of cell in the body and HIV destroys these cells, making it harder for your body to fight off other infections.
  • You can get or transmit HIV only through specific activities. most commonly through sexual behaviors, unprotected sex, with multiple partners or drinking breast milk from a HIV positive mother etc etc
  • oh no!
  • Don't worry I'll help you!
  • Young people ages 10–24 within the populations considered most at risk of HIV infection: men who have sex with men, those who sell sex and those who inject drugs.
  • There is a way to treat HIV. Thanks to antiretroviral HIV medication, known as ‘treatment’, a HIV positive person can live a long and healthy life
  • To avoid getting HIV: Get tested and know your partner's HIV status.  Have less risky sex.  Use condoms. Limit your number of sexual partners.  Get tested and treated for STDs.
  • I sure will! I hope you get better, you can talk to me anytime sis!
  • I have HIV but I'm getting treatment soon at the NSW sexual health centre. You should get tested too!
