  • In the story, "The Cask of Amontillado," by Edgar Allan Poe, Montresor (the main character/narrator) kills Fortunato (the jester) by luring him into a crypt, chaining him to the gap inside a wall and sealing the said wall up, dooming him to die a painful death.
  • evidence
  • urga burga
  • Montresor's actions were justified, and somewhat reasonable.
  • analysis
  • nah
  • oi let me go m8
  • Fortunato insulted Montresor multiple times, making him want to take revenge, as Fortunato insulted his family name.
  • conclusion sentence
  • lol
  • ayy help
  • Montresor says "Fortunato had insulted me." (Poe, 1) Montresor also believes "No one insults me without punishment." (Poe, 31)
  • This shows that Fortunato had insulted Montresor and his family name, making Montresor take revenge on him for insulting him, as Montresor's motto on his coat of arms says "No one insults me without punishment".
  • Because Fortunato insulted Montresor, he punished him by killing him after luring him to a place with no chance of escape. This seems extreme, but when this takes place, insulting someones family name was very serious.
