Storyboard Text

  • Did you know that mitosis starts with interphase?
  • Mitosis  By: Joey Michel
  • During interphase the cell grows to its mature size, replicates its DNA, and prepares for mitosis to begin.
  • After interphase the cell starts mitosis.
  • The first stage of mitosis is prophase. This is when the spindle fibers are formed.
  • And then after prophase the cell enters metaphase.
  • During metaphase, your chromosomes line up in the center of the cell in preperation for anaphase.
  • Anaphase is the next step in mitosis.
  • During anaphase, the spindle fibers attatch to the centromeres and pull the chromosomes to opposite ends of the cell.
  • The last stage of mitosis is telophase.
  • During Telophase, the cell membrane starts to pinch into 2 new cells.
  • The last stage is cytokinesis.
  • This is when the parent cell completely divides into 2 indentical daughter cells.
