Lafayette stationed some men at Barren Hill for an ambush on the Redcoats.
Unfortunately, a British general received word of the ambush, and counter-attacked near the river to take them by surprise.
Lafayette called another retreat, and saved the lives of most of his men, resulting in few casualties.
After his honor and bravery on the battlefield, Barren Hill was renamed... Lafayette Hill.
During the Battle of Brandywine, Lafayette was shot in the leg, but he survived! Unfortunately, the American army lost this battle.
In the end, Marie-Joseph-Paul-Yves-Roch-Gilbert du Motier de Lafayette's contributions help win Americas freedoms.
