Storyboard Text

  • Conclusion
  • Bob why are you not wearing a shirt in public?
  • Well I've come to a conclusion, that if I where a shirt it is way to hot and I don't want to burn
  • Contradiction
  • You have more chance of burning with your shirt off then on
  • You just contradicted me
  • Reasoning
  • I am just reasoning, it is a proven fact that wearing a shirt adds protection from the sun
  • That's a good argument, but last time I wore a shirt I still burnt so it must not help
  • I am being logical Bob, and making a deductive argument, which the conclusions are reached by reasoning
  • Logic
  • You learn something new everyday
  • Formal Logic
  • I'm using formal logic, which happens to be the study of deductive arguments
  • I still think I can prevent myself from burning with a shirt
  • Excluded middle, ethical and inductive argument
  • Bob this is a law of excluded middle, this has no middle ground. It is false.
  • You are not being ethical walking around without a shirt
  • That is an inductive argument, a general rule that is probably true, based on specific premises
