  • Shahadah is the profession or declaration of faith. The first part of the Shahadah affirms monotheism. The second part of Shahadah says Muhammad is God's messenger. Muslims pledge their submission to Allah. Allah is the name of the god they believe in.

  • Salat is the second pillar of Islam, daily ritual prayer. In Islam, people are called to pray five times a day. Though, before they pray they must do ritual washings. The worshipers face the qiblah AKA the direction of the Ka'bah. Praying in a Mosque is most preferable but, you can pray anywhere.
  • Hajj
  • Zakat is the third pillar of Islam and it stands for charity. In the Qur'an, it says the rich must share some of their riches with the poor. Zakat is also a reminder of God's great gifts. Zakat helps to provide people with many needs.
  • The fourth pillar of Islam is Siyam. Siyam is about fasting or going without food. The Qur'an says that you have to fast for an entire month during Ramadan. In Ramada, Muslims fast from daybreak until the sunsets. Pregnant women, travelers, the sick, the elderly, and young children do not have to fast.
