  • A snail is swimming in the ocean.

  • The snail suddenly dies, and is quickly buried by sediments
  • DO NOT DISTURB: SNAIL WAITING TO BECOME FOSSILIZED
  • Over millions of years, the sediments harden.
  • DO NOT DISTURB: SNAIL WAITING TO BECOME FOSSILIZED
  • The fossil's cells are replaced by minerals from the sediment layers above, and the fossil is now complete.
  • just keep swimming
  •  The water washes the sand that the snail is in away, causing the fossil to become exposed 
  • The fossils are discovered by humans. 
  • Look, it's a fossil! 
  • Awesome!
