  • Exposition
  • Conflict
  • Rising Action
  • A plane carrying a group of boys aged 6-12 crashes into an island. After the plane crashes, the boys wade to shore and try to establish a society which may not hold up.
  • Climax
  • The older boys try to put in a system of rules, though Jack and some of his friends do not listen to Ralph who was voted the leader. The conch shell is used as a system of order to prevent chaos.
  • Falling Action
  • Some of the boys think that there is a beast on the island. Jack and his group, "the hunters" want to find and kill this monster who the other boys think is terrorizing them.
  • Resolution
  • After Piggy is killed, Jack's group of hunters starts to act more savage and Ralph tries to re-establish order.
  • Jack and his group start to find and attack Ralph because he will not join and work with them.  Ralph tried to prioritize keeping a fire on to get rescued but Jack wanted to hunt and find meat.
  • A  British navy officer finds Ralph on the beach running from Jack's group. Ralph tries to tell the navy officer what happened, but Ralph begins to cry.
