The art class is Melinda's "Sanctuary" because every other time of the day she is feeling isolated and depressed. She gets to express herself in that class. 9-12 Anderson

Melinda is still depressed because her grades are horrible and her parents are pissed off at her on top of everything else. She takes it out by cutting herself in her janitors closet hideout. 86-88 Anderson
