In Paris,France in the late 1800's Madame Loisel, Monsieur Loisels wife dressed in middle-class clothing dreaming about what she doesn't have. Her husband came home to see her sad and decided to offer her tickets to a ball. She was most delighted to go but feared she'd look bad in her clothing.
Madame Loisel told her husband she'd need a new dress and he offered around 400 francs to buy one she hurried to the store to buy one and when she returned home she realized she needed some sort of neck-ware and Monsieur Loisel told her to ask her friend for a necklace.
Madame Loisel hurrys to her friend Madame forestier's house to ask for a necklace or bracelet. after a couple minutes of searching through her jewelry she found a black box containing a expensive looking necklace laced in diamonds. Madame Loisel begged to use it and her friend kindly allowed it. Then Madame Loisel was ready for the ball.
When Madame Loisel arrived at the ball she was adored by all the men. She had a brilliant time dancing and at around 4:00 her and her husband headed home. They took a cab home and when they got inside the house Madame Loisel was struck with terror, She felt the necklace was gone.
The two traced their steps back and searched dearly for the necklace but had no luck. after hours of searching they started to look through jewelry shops for a similar necklace to replace the one she carelessly lost eventually they found one worth 40,000 francs. They had to take loans and the rest of his money from the bank just to buy the necklace.
After nearly a decade of poverty the two managed to pay off all the debts they had and were done. They were now living life in an attic doing chores and working to live well. One day Madame Loisel saw her friend on the sidewalk walking looking as beautiful as she did 10 years ago. Madame Loisel approached her and told the whole truth of what happened. Madame Forestier told her the necklace was paste and she wasted her life for nothing.
